Green door Arts Week

 

A showcase of contemporary and folk performance works by independent artists in & around  Jaipur.

The performance week is aimed at bringing forth creativity and innovation in performing arts by independent artists looking to go beyond the norm and experiment with the form they practice; be it theater, music or dance.

The week brought together some of the most exciting artists of Jaipur creating works that are thought provoking and questioning.

 
Supported by Kaushalya Devi Art Fund; 
founded in 2023, in the memory of Late Kaushalya Devi Kishanpuria by her family.

 

The art fund supports artists through grants to help them create work and implement them across projects of practice and education of arts and culture in India.

 
The first edition of Green Door Arts Week ran from 3 Feb - 10 Feb, 2023.

2023 performances

Kamakshi Saxena as a dance practitioner is drawn to the idea of creating experiences through movement. She has been a student of dance and continues to explore into the realms of movement practices. She started training in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance styles at The Danceworx performing arts academy, New Delhi and performed extensively with The Danceworx Company. She then moved to New York City to study at the Alvin Ailey School, for dance techniques like Horton, Graham, Ballet and Dunham.

Fragile is a contemporary dance performance exploring the facets of fragility.

Exploring the folk story of Soni-Mahival & its relevance in this time and era. 

Hullas shares an intimate vocal session, supported by sarangi, tabla & harmonium

In collab with JVF, this explores the folk dance of Meena community through a contemporary lens.

inspired by music and poetry of Sant Dadu Dayal; a true artist depicts the true meaning of the nirgun bhakti.
